Sorry I haven't been posting, Work, JFL and My other blogs have been taking up my time. JFL is finely over , my son's team won 7 out of 8 games. My other blogs will now take a backseat to FORGOTTEN PEORIA.
I would also like to thank everybody who sent me emails, many of the emails where overlooked. My noobiedoo@gmail account gets over 200 emails a day, most of them are spam. So I made a new email account " forgottenpeoria@gmail.com " Its Just For this blog and forum.
I've also have had a few Emails from firefox users that had trouble registering a account on the forum. I made a account with firefox today and didn't have any trouble. If you have trouble making a account please email me.
I will be adding post to the blog and forum over the next few days and plan to start advertising the site to get more people on here. Anybody with pictures and stories PLEASE post them in the forum. If you cant find a category that fits you pictures or stories please contact me I will gladly add new categories !

BARTONVILLE STATE HOSPITAL

The old state hospital. The first time I went to the state hospital was with a neighbor, back in 1979. I've been back 1000's of time since. I couldn't tell you how many night we spent wandering the hallways of the old building's on Friday and Saturday night. We covered every square inch of every building, every tunnel. It was like having a ghost town a few miles from my house. I see 100's of people making movies and taking pictures. I was one of them. I wish I could find the picture, but I think my mom through them out many years ago.

The only downside to Didley's is the Movie screen is about one-third the size of a drive-in movie theater. You watch from the lawn not you car.

This episode of Torgo's Drive-in is rated "PG" (1970's style), I think this would be rated PG-13 or R today

Like most Peoria kids in the early 70's, I watched H.R. Pufnstuf. There were seventeen episodes of the show, which ran from September 6, 1969 to September 4, 1971, but it was so successful that the NBC kept it on the Saturday morning schedule for a full three seasons. ABC carried repeats of the series for two more seasons from September 16, 1972 to September 1, 1974.

H.R. Pufnstuf introduced the Kroffts' most-used plot scenario, revolving around a boy named Jimmy, played by Jack Wild, who had accidentally found Living Island, a magical place where everything was alive. The Mayor of Living Island was a friendly dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf. Jimmy had been lured to the island with his friend, a talking flute named Freddie, by a magic boat which promised adventures across the sea. The boat was actually owned and controlled by their nemesis, a wicked witch named Witchiepoo, played by Billie Hayes, who rode on a broomstick with a steering wheel called the "VroomBroom". Jimmy was taken in by Pufnstuf, who was able to protect him from Witchiepoo as the cave where he lived was the only place her magic had no effect. Apart from Witchiepoo, all of the characters on Living Island were realized via large, cumbersome costumes or puppetry. Since everything on Living Island was alive—houses, castles, boats, grandfather clocks, candles, books, trees, mushrooms—virtually any part of the Living Island sets could become a character, usually voiced in a parody of a famous film star, such as Mae West, Edward G. Robinson or most notably John Wayne as "The West Wind".

The show's popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s led to the release of a movie based on the show, called Pufnstuf, in 1970. The film featured guest appearances by Mama Cass Elliott and Martha Raye. The show and the movie were both notable for bright colors, fast edits, sped-up film, musical segments and pop culture in-jokes, and appealed to young adults almost as much as children.

Yes, Some more Springdale Cemetery Pictures. In a Lot of ways Springdale is forggoten people who live just a few blocks a way dont relize that their are over 78,000 graves along the 230 acres of hills and valleys and 6.5 miles of roads. More to come !!

As a young child I watched Creature Feature with my dad. I can still remember making pictures to send in to the CREEP OF THE WEEK, while watching the movies. Creature Feature was my first horror movie experience. Who can forget the first time they watched ,Frankenstien, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Killer Shrews. But even then the movies took a backseat to Chuck Acri's sketches.
Memories like this is one of the reasons I made this site. Now for some good and bad news.

The good news is Creature Feature Is Back on the air !!!

The bad news is its not in Peoria. Its on Saturday night at 11:00 pm on FOX channel 18 in Davenport Iowa. I just wonder if Chuck Acri and WYZZ FOX 43 received enough phone calls and letters If we could get it back on in Peoria. Here are the websites For FOX 43 in Peoria.
